Justin Piercy, a friend of Phil's, we be guest preaching at Southside Baptist Church in Olney, TX on December 29. Justin will be sharing how he saw God at work through Phil in a message based on James 1:2-4. He is excited to speak about how God used Phil to show him and others to have the proper perspective in life and gratefulness in all circumstances. We pray the Lord speaks mightily through Justin's words!
The Coach Taylor Athletic scholarship is awarded annually to two Prince of Peace Christian School (POPCS) student athletes who demonstrate a strong desire to participate in Eagle Athletics but may be limited by their financial ability to do so. The Coach Taylor scholarship is funded annually by the 9474 Foundation.
9474 Foundation President Mike Land (center) presented a donation to POPCS Headmaster Chris Hahn (right) for the 2019-2020 Coach Taylor Athletic Scholarships. Also present was Tyler Burke (left), POPCS Athletic Director.
On Friday, May 10th, the POPCS Upper School students participated in a 1-mile "Color Run" on campus. This event represented their unity as a student body as they came together to celebrate the community that God has blessed them with. The POPCS Student Council dedicated the race in celebration of the lives and memories of Coach Phil Taylor and alumnus Andrew Kalinke (Class of 2017), both of whom they lost in 2018. Students received 9474 Foundation bracelets, and TCU purple was a prominent color. We were blessed by this thoughtful gesture from our POPCS Eagle Family.
Phil's friend, and author of "Underdog - True Stories of Overcoming Adversity", Scott Kujak hosted a book signing event on Thursday, May 16, at the TCU Bookstore in Fort Worth. Scott is generously donating portions of the proceeds from this event in support of the 9474 Foundation.
One of the things Coach Taylor worked to teach his players at Prince of Peace Christian School was that there were only 2 things they could control - in sports and in life - their attitude and how hard they worked.
The 9474 Foundation was blessed to be able to provide this locker room sign to the Prince of Peace Christian School Athletic Department in memory of Coach Taylor and as a reminder to their athletes and coaches of this principle.
